The municipality of Waldachtal has existed since July 1, 1974. It lies in the wide, idyllic Waldach Valley and has approximately 6,000 inhabitants. The municipality comprises the villages of Cresbach (including Cresbach, Oberwaldach, Unterwaldach, and Vesperweiler), Hörschweiler, Lützenhardt, Salzstetten, and Tumlingen.
The villages are loosely scattered throughout the valley, giving the region its open, airy character. Pure, invigorating Black Forest air and an altitude of 550 to 700 meters create a mild, healthy, and largely fog-free climate. Forests and meadows alternate, the terrain is gently rolling, reminiscent of a wide plateau – steep inclines are rare.
Waldachtal is located just 11 kilometers from Freudenstadt and 12 kilometers from Horb. The Waldach brook rises near Tumlingen and gave the municipality its name.
The stately recognized health resort of Lützenhardt forms the touristic center. Here, those seeking relaxation will find ideal conditions to unwind and de-stress.
